À PROPOS DU POSTE

Les animateur·trice·s des ateliers d’éducation alimentaire animent des ateliers de cuisine et d’éducation alimentaire destinés aux enfants, aux jeunes et aux familles dans les écoles, les centres communautaires et au Dépôt. Ils et elles créent des environnements d’apprentissage sécuritaires, accueillants et inclusifs tout en aidant les participant·e·s à développer leurs compétences culinaires, leurs connaissances en nutrition et une meilleure compréhension du système alimentaire.

CE QUE VOUS FEREZ

• Animer 2 à 5 ateliers par semaine, selon les disponibilités ;
• Transmettre de connaissances culinaires et nutritionnelles et sur les systèmes alimentaires aux participants des ateliers ;
• Assurer un environnement sécuritaire, valorisant, et hygiénique pour les participants ;
• Communiquer avec les participants et partenaires du programme ;
• Contribuer au développement, à la planification et à l’évaluation des ateliers et du programme ;
• Participer aux réunions d’équipe et faciliter la collaboration au sein de l’équipe ;
• Animer la fête de fin de session des ateliers Boîte à Lunch (date à confirmer.)

CE QUE VOUS APPORTEZ

• Capacité d’animer confortablement en français et de tenir une conversation en anglais afin de communiquer efficacement avec les jeunes. Le Dépôt a évalué les besoins linguistiques de ce poste et a conclu qu’une connaissance de base de l’anglais est requise pour communiquer avec nos participants anglophones. Vous devez être en mesure d’exécuter certaines tâches nécessitant cette communication de base en anglais ;
• Expérience en animation auprès des jeunes ;
• Capacité à interagir positivement avec des jeunes de différents milieux sociaux et économiques ;
• Compréhension des défis des familles immigrantes, valorisation des connaissances culturelles ;
• Bases solides en saine alimentation et nutrition ;
• Confiance en cuisine et capacité à transmettre les connaissances aux participants ;
• Forte capacité de travailler en équipe et expérience en milieux communautaires ;
• Connaissance de la communauté de Notre-Dame-de-Grâce un atout ;
• Attestation de premiers soins et/ou certification MAPAQ (manipulateur d’aliments) un atout ; 
• Capacité de soulever de lourdes charges (10kg/ 22lbs) et de travailler sur ses pieds pendant de longues heures sont des atouts ;
• Esprit d’initiative et créativité encouragés, ainsi qu’une passion pour la cuisine et pour la nourriture !

HORAIRE DES ATELIERS

Un horaire hebdomadaire sera fixé pour chaque animateur.trice. Nous comblons plusieurs positions à temps partiel avec des horaires et des heures hebdomadaires variées (entre 6 et 12 heures par semaine). Les animateurs.trices Boîte à Lunch doivent être disponibles en après-midi et en soirée, ainsi que certaines fin de semaine. Nous demanderons aux candidats de préciser leurs disponibilités en déposant leurs candidatures. Inclus dans l’horaire de travail, l’animateur.trice devra faire de la préparation (lecture) à la maison, et devra être disponible pour assister aux réunions d’équipe (aux 2 semaines), à deux réunions de formation en début de session, à la fête finale des ateliers, et à la réunion de réflexion en fin de session.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Food Literacy Workshop Facilitators lead cooking and food education workshops for children, youth, and families in schools, community centres, and at The Depot. They create safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environments while helping participants build cooking skills, nutrition knowledge, and a deeper understanding of the food system. 

WHAT YOU WILL DO

• Facilitate 2 to 5 workshops per week, depending on availability;
• Transfer cooking, nutrition and food systems knowledge to workshop participants;
• Ensure a safe, hygienic and empowering environment for participants;
• Communicate with participants and program partners;
• Contribute to the development, planning, and evaluation of the workshops and program;
• Participate in bi-weekly team meetings and facilitate collaboration among team members;
• Facilitate the final party for Boîte à Lunch workshop participants.

WHAT YOU BRING

• Ability to comfortably facilitate in French and engage in basic conversations in English to effectively communicate with youth. The Depot has assessed the language requirements for this role and determined that a basic understanding of English is necessary to interact with our English-speaking participants. You should be capable of performing tasks that involve this level of English communication;
• Facilitation experience with youth;
• Ability to interact positively with youth of various social and economic backgrounds;
• Understanding of the challenges faced by immigrant families, appreciation of cultural knowledge;
• A foundation and interest in healthy eating and nutrition;
• Confidence in the kitchen and ability to transmit skills to participants in an empowering way;
• Strong capacity for effective teamwork and experience working in community settings;
• Knowledge of the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce community is an asset;
• First aid certification and/or MAPAQ food handler certification is an asset; 
• Ability to lift heavy loads (10kg/ 22lbs) and to work on your feet for long hours;
• Sense of initiative and creativity encouraged, along with a passion for food and for cooking!

WORKSHOP SCHEDULE

A weekly schedule will be set for each facilitator. We have several part-time positions to fill with varying weekly hours (between 6 and 12 hours per week). Boîte à Lunch facilitation shifts are primarily in the afternoons and evenings on weekdays, and on some weekends. We will ask candidates to tell us their availability as part of the application process. Included in the weekly schedule, facilitators will be expected to do some preparation work (reading) from home, and must be available for team meetings every 2 weeks, for two training meetings at the beginning of the session, for the end-of-session party for Boîte à Lunch, and an end of session wrap-up team meeting.

WHAT WE OFFER

• Part-time position: 13-week contract from September 21 to December 18, 2026;
• Possible contract renewal in Winter 2027;
• Salary: $20/hour
