Great news! 211 will be in the RCM of Assomption
Montreal, November 2, 2016 – “The Information and Referral Centre of Greater Montreal (IRCGM) is very happy to be implementing in March 2017 the 211 service for the residents of the RCM of Assomption. Citizens will easily obtain information by telephone, or by consulting the on-line data bank on social and community-based services near their homes, or outside the RCM, that will help them resolve problems they encounter,” explained Mrs. Pierrette Gagné, Executive Director of IRCGM at the press conference announcing the future launching of the service.
211 is a centralized information wicket, easily accessible to all individuals looking for public and social and community services who are confronted by obstacles and also for professional and social counsellors working in health and social services and other governmental agencies, businesses and communities. The list of social needs is long: family services, research for food aid, help for newcomers, home help, reasonable housing, just to name a few. At IRCGM, and for the last 60 years, we have been able to observe at what point it is important to guide people to pertinent resources and technological tools will facilitate this mission. “The RCM of Assomption MRC will join the great 211 network. In fact, 211 is largely accessible in other Canadian provinces and in a majority of American states. It permits an optimal usage of public and social and community resources, helping directly citizens to taking charge of their lives, after having pertinent information that will be helping them in their journey.
The 211 is also an essential instrument for municipal managers that will have in hand reliable data permitting a reading of all social needs living in their territory.
“After the City of Laval, the RCM of Assomption will offer soon to all citizens a service of quality, given by a highly qualified personnel with highly established standards of quality. We can only congratulate the political and administrative in their will to support the citizens who have difficulties by helping them find solutions in their immediate environment. We will closely work with community-based organizations, going forward on our information and reference mandate and to make this project a success, and that for the benefit of everyone”, concluded Mrs. Gagné.
